At Mirloo Music Academy, we’ve spent over 30 years believing in one simple truth: music is for everyone.
No matter a child’s age, background, or learning style, we’ve seen again and again how music brings joy, builds confidence, and creates connection. Our programs are built around the idea that every child deserves the chance to explore music in a way that feels safe, supportive, and empowering.

A Welcoming Space for Every Child
Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to welcome many neurodivergent students into our studios — particularly children with Autism and ADHD. While we’re not a certified music therapy program, our extensive teaching experience has shown us how transformative music can be when taught with patience, creativity, and encouragement.
Parents often ask:
“Can my child focus in a music class?”
“Will they feel comfortable performing?”
“What if they’re shy or nonverbal?”
These are completely valid concerns. And our answer is often a joyful and confident yes — with the right support, children thrive.
How We Support Student Growth at Mirloo Music Academy
At Mirloo Music Academy, we take a gentle, personalized approach to teaching. Some of the ways we support all learners include:
🎵 Positive reinforcement and reward systems
Our simple star-based system encourages effort, consistency, and progress. After earning 10 stars for things like participation and practice, students receive a small prize — a structure that’s especially motivating for children who thrive on routine.
🎵 Inclusive and low-pressure performance opportunities
From informal sharing during lessons to seasonal recitals and playing in the Mirloo Music Orchestra, we offer frequent chances to build confidence on stage — one step at a time.
🎵 Experienced, compassionate teachers
Our instructors understand that no two children learn the same way. We focus on encouragement, flexibility, and building trust with each student.
What We've Seen in Our Studios
Some of the most touching stories come from families who weren’t sure their child could participate in music — and then watched them bloom.
One student who struggled with attention began to focus during lessons, captivated by the rhythm of the piano.
Another, who was mostly nonverbal, started expressing emotions through the violin, connecting in a way words couldn’t.
Many families have told us how music created new bridges of communication and joy between them and their child.
These are not isolated moments — they’re part of what we see regularly in our studios. Music opens doors.

The Science Behind the Music
Research continues to support what we’ve long witnessed firsthand:
A 2018 study in Autism Research (Sharda et al.) found that music interventions improve brain connectivity and social communication in children with ASD.
A 2024 study from the University of Montreal suggests that musical training enhances attention control, memory, and emotional understanding in young learners.
While these benefits are powerful for neurodivergent children, they are equally important for all kids — especially in a world that increasingly values emotional intelligence and creative thinking.
Final Thoughts: Music Builds More Than Skill
Music is so much more than an extracurricular activity. At its core, music education is:
A tool for emotional and cognitive development
A safe space for self-expression
A joyful, confidence-building journey for every child
At Mirloo Music Academy, we’re proud to be a welcoming, inclusive space for all students. Whether your child dreams of playing in an orchestra, composing their own songs, or simply discovering their inner voice, we’re here to support that journey.
🎶 We believe that within every child is a musician waiting to be heard. Let’s help them find their voice — together.
